Tales of the City is a progression of nine books composed by American writer Armistead Maupin from 1978 to 2014. The narratives from Tales were initially serialized preceding their novelization, with the initial four titles showing up as standard portions in the San Francisco Chronicle, while the fifth showed up in the San Francisco Examiner. The rest of the titles were never serialized, however were rather initially composed as books.
Tales of the City has been contrasted with comparable sequential books that kept running in other city papers, for example, The Serial(1976; Marin County), Tangled Lives (Boston), Bagtime (Chicago), and Federal Triangle (Washington, D.C.).
Characters from the Tales of the City arrangement have showed up in supporting jobs in Maupin’s later books Maybe the Moon and The Night Listener.
